Glowing Light: Painting Illumination

💡 Make your paintings radiate, not just reflect light. In this powerful demo, Michael Malm guides you step‑by step through how to render the illusion of glowing light—from the source to its ripple across form, surrounding color, and atmosphere. Introduced by Sentient founder Keith Huang, this session explores how to create the illusion of illumination using color, value, and edge control.

You’ll learn how to:
🎯 Recognize and correct the most common “flat light” painting mistakes by comparing them to successful glowing scenes.
📐 Craft value and edge transitions so the light “feels” like it’s emanating, not just sitting on top.
🌈 Shape color temperature, reflection, and reflecting light to heighten the illusion of internal illumination.
🖼️ Design backgrounds, forms, and cast light so everything supports the glow—making viewers feel the light, not just see it.

Ideal for intermediate to advanced painters who want to send their lighting, mood and atmosphere to the next level. 🕒 Runtime: 30+ minutes
